What Should I Look For When Looking at Elderly Home Care?

Michigan caregivers

It was with a heavy heart that I started searching for “home senior care Michigan” the other day. My Dad was the epitome of a manly man, and I never wanted to hurt his pride. Each time I visited though, he seemed to get more fragile. Now, he has trouble getting around the house let alone getting around to pay bills or get his medication or get groceries.

There were lots of choices on the results list for Michigan home care, or Michigan senior care, or Michigan elderly care, or Michigan caregivers or Michigan assisted living.

Except, I had no idea what to look for when I search through “home senior care Michigan” or the like. I had heard those horror stories all about senior citizens getting abused in their retirement homes, but I could not find any ways to look out for warning signs.

Plus, I have a budget, but I cannot afford to compromise the care for my Dad. I have no idea how to find a balance.

I think I liked the ideas that the list “at home senior care Michigan” gave me though. The idea of having an in home nurse or just someone to come check up on him makes me feel better.

Does anyone have any advice for someone who has trouble making heads or tails of the “home senior care Michigan” search results list?

I would definitely do your research on individual places. I think that that is the most important part in the search. You should visit these sites and ask residents how they feel about living there.

I faced a similar situation a few years ago. For me, the biggest problem was getting my Mom to agree to moving in. If you find your Dad resisting, you should continually urge him to humor you.
